“Life is a movement.”
“Because life is movement, I treat patients with care and precision so they can regain a good quality of life and return to movement as quickly as possible.”
Never stop learning, always improving treatment efficiency
Dr. Kritsakorn Srisom, an orthopedic surgeon, pursued advanced studies in hip joint surgery, followed by further specialization in orthopedic trauma surgery. Over more than 11 years, he has accumulated experience and honed his expertise to help patients walk again as soon as possible. On average, he performs surgery on over 150 patients per year, focusing on personalized treatment plans. Each plan is tailored to the patient’s condition, helping them understand the treatment process, expected outcomes, and recovery timeline.
Bone diseases do not heal instantly. Even after surgery, full recovery takes time — sometimes up to a year. During this recovery period, patients must know how to properly care for themselves. The doctor must also understand the patient’s lifestyle in order to tailor treatment and prevent recurrence. Some patients rely on crutches, and when certain muscles are not in use, they can weaken or become imbalanced. This requires muscle retraining and physical therapy, which involve extensive time and communication between the patient and the doctor to achieve the best possible outcome.
Treating with full effort to restore quality of life
Some people view orthopedic surgeons as similar to craftsmen — drilling, cutting, and fixing joints. But the work is far more delicate. Bone problems not only cause pain but also greatly impair mobility. In severe cases, patients may become completely dependent on others, which severely affects their mental health. Some even lose hope and refuse to follow medical advice. It is the doctor’s responsibility to heal both body and mind.
“We don’t just cut or fuse bones — we need to understand how patients feel. We’re taught that human life is intrinsically linked to movement — movement to live, to work, to create. So, losing that freedom is deeply sensitive and life-altering. That’s why we treat with everything we’ve got — from finding the right method to applying the right technology and support systems. I always give patients the full picture, so they can make informed decisions.”
He uses books, diagrams, models, and videos to explain each step clearly, helping patients understand not only the treatment but also what they need to do to care for themselves.
“Nowadays, we aim to strengthen patients from the moment they go into surgery. We use surgical techniques that minimize blood loss and reduce damage to surrounding tissues — enabling many to stand and walk within 24 hours post-surgery under medical supervision. Long-term, we focus on holistic recovery to restore normal function and provide emotional support to prepare patients for physical therapy.”
Passing on knowledge for sustainable self-care
“Answering patients’ questions brings me joy. I encourage them to ask, because understanding their condition and the treatment path gives them clarity, hope, and a sense of control. It’s far better than being in the dark. Even if they never return for hospital treatment, they will have the right knowledge to care for themselves long-term — and even pass it on to others. That, to me, is meaningful and fulfilling.”
