Dr. Parichat Tor. Sriwong
一般信息
“Today, tonsil surgery is performed under general anesthesia with an anesthesiologist, so patients don’t have to fear pain during the procedure. We use small surgical instruments along with an electrocautery device to treat the tonsils, which yields excellent results. The surgery is quick, leaves no external wounds, and the internal wound at the tonsils heals naturally within two weeks. Once fully healed, the patient’s quality of life significantly improves.”
Dr. Parichat T. Sriwong graduated with a Doctor of Medicine degree from the Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University. After graduation, she worked under Thailand’s compulsory service program for three years before returning to Khon Kaen University to pursue a Board Certification in Otolaryngology (ENT).
She shares her inspiration and experience:
“My mother was a nurse, so as a child, I was often immersed in the hospital environment. Watching the doctors at work, I felt that being a doctor meant helping people escape suffering and illness. That left a strong impression on me and inspired me to become a doctor myself, to use my knowledge to help others.
When I was a medical student, I spent a lot of time in the ENT ward and really enjoyed working with the various tools and instruments. I found it fun to examine and treat patients and was satisfied with the results — which made me decide to specialize in ENT.”
Expert in Treating and Operating on Tonsillitis and ENT Diseases
Dr. Parichat is a medical specialist in ear, nose, and throat (ENT) conditions. Common conditions she frequently treats include allergic rhinitis, sinusitis, ear infections, inner ear fluid imbalance, vertigo, and sore throat. Among tonsil-related conditions, the most frequent are tonsillitis and tonsil stones.
“In cases of tonsillitis, patients often present with a sore throat, which is different from that seen in a common cold. They usually have a high fever and severe throat pain. If we find that the tonsils are inflamed, enlarged, and the patient has had more than six episodes a year, surgery is typically recommended. However, it doesn’t always need to reach six times a year — if the symptoms are severe and cause the patient significant distress, surgery can be considered based on the case.”
Dr. Parichat is highly skilled and experienced in performing tonsillectomies, reassuring patients that modern surgical methods — particularly with small, electrically powered instruments — result in minimal internal wounds and no external scars. The surgical wound in the tonsils heals naturally within two weeks, and once healed, patients regain good health and quality of life.
“Before surgery, we need to first treat any existing inflammation to reduce risks and prevent complications. In cases where the tonsils are severely enlarged, causing symptoms like heavy snoring or obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), surgery can proceed without requiring prior inflammation. Each case is assessed individually. I also give guidance on post-operative care, including medications and dietary recommendations for recovery.”
Over a Decade of Experience in Tonsil and Tonsil Stone Surgery
With over 10 years of experience in treating tonsillitis and tonsil stones, Dr. Parichat is committed to helping patients achieve long-lasting recovery. In every surgical case, she pays close attention to detail and holistic analysis, aiming for the best possible outcomes and minimizing the risk of complications.
Her goal is for every patient to regain a healthy, high-quality life.
