After graduating with a Doctor of Medicine degree from the Faculty of Medicine at the Praboromarajchanok Institute, Maharaj Nakhon Ratchasima Hospital, Dr. Patcharee Wattanathitthan began her medical career as a government service doctor in the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department at Buriram Hospital, Buriram Province. She shares her experience and continuing education: 

“While working as a government service doctor at Buriram Hospital’s Obstetrics and Gynecology Department, I had the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in obstetrics and received valuable knowledge and guidance from senior physicians. That left a strong impression on me and sparked my interest in the field. When I had the chance to pursue further studies, I chose to specialize in Obstetrics and Gynecology. After graduation, I wanted to deepen my expertise even further to provide more effective and focused care for patients, so I decided to pursue a subspecialty in Maternal-Fetal Medicine. Today, I care for both pregnant women and their unborn babies, as well as treat gynecological conditions.” 

Caring for expectant mothers, fetuses, and treating gynecological conditions 

In addition to caring for pregnant women and fetuses, Dr. Patcharee also treats general gynecological conditions, performs surgeries, and delivers babies. When monitoring pregnancies, she ensures the mother’s condition is thoroughly assessed, diagnoses and treats health concerns, and prevents complications. She also closely monitors both maternal and fetal health to ensure a healthy pregnancy and a safe, successful birth. 

“I want to see babies born healthy and mothers giving birth safely without complications. When treating gynecological conditions, I care for women at every stage—pre-reproductive, reproductive, and postmenopausal. I always believe that my role is to take the best possible care of my patients. Being able to cure their ailments and help them return to a good quality of life brings me joy. Besides treating illnesses according to medical standards, I make sure my patients feel comfortable, cared for, and emotionally supported during and after their treatment.” 

Every screening must identify the cause to ensure targeted treatment 

Dr. Patcharee emphasizes that obstetric and gynecological diseases are complex, often affecting internal organs. Every patient visit begins with a thorough medical history to assess potential risks. This information guides the use of standardized diagnostic tools that lead to accurate results and help shape a precise treatment plan. 

“No matter what the results show—whether abnormalities are detected or not—I always explain everything clearly: the cause, the nature of the disease, its stage, the pros and cons of each treatment option, and any limitations. This allows patients to make informed decisions that suit them best. For expectant mothers, who require long-term care, I provide personalized advice for each stage of pregnancy—what to do, what to avoid, including nutrition, exercise, rest, and screening schedules for both mother and baby. My goal is to offer complete, well-rounded information to support wise decisions and achieve the best outcomes for the mother.”
