Immunization recommendation for children by Age

To ensure good health and strengthen your child’s immune defenses, the Ministry of Public Health has established an immunization schedule for newborns, categorized by age groups as follows:

 

At Birth

  • BCG Vaccine for Tuberculosis (BCG)
  • Hepatitis B Vaccine, 1st dose (HBV 1)

 

1 Month

Hepatitis B Vaccine, 2nd dose (HBV 2)

 

2 Months

Diphtheria, Tetanus, Pertussis Vaccine, Whole Cell, 1st dose (DTwP-HB1)

  • Oral Polio Vaccine, 1st dose (OPV 1 or IPV 1)
  • Diphtheria, Tetanus, Pertussis Vaccine, Acellular, 1st dose (DTaP 1)
  • Injectable Polio Vaccine, 1st dose (IPV 1)
  • Haemophilus influenzae type B Vaccine, 1st dose (Hib 1)
  • Pneumococcal Conjugate Vaccine, 1st dose (PCV 1)
  • Rotavirus Vaccine, 1st dose (Rota 1)

 

4 Months

  • Diphtheria, Tetanus, Pertussis Vaccine, Whole Cell, 2nd dose (DTwP-HB2)
  • Oral Polio Vaccine, 2nd dose (OPV 1 or IPV 1)
  • Diphtheria, Tetanus, Pertussis Vaccine, Acellular, 2nd dose (DTaP 2)
  • Injectable Polio Vaccine, 2nd dose (IPV 2)
  • Haemophilus influenzae type B Vaccine, 2nd dose (Hib 2)
  • Pneumococcal Conjugate Vaccine, 2nd dose (PCV 2)
  • Rotavirus Vaccine, 2nd dose (Rota 2)

 

6 Months

  • Diphtheria, Tetanus, Pertussis Vaccine, Whole Cell, 3rd dose (DTwP-HB3)
  • Oral Polio Vaccine, 3rd dose (OPV 3)
  • Diphtheria, Tetanus, Pertussis Vaccine, Acellular, 3rd dose (DTaP 3)
  • Injectable Polio Vaccine, 3rd dose (IPV 3)
  • Haemophilus influenzae type B Vaccine, 3rd dose (Hib 3)
  • Pneumococcal Conjugate Vaccine, 3rd dose (PCV 3)
  • Rotavirus Vaccine, 3rd dose (Rota 3)
  • Influenza Vaccine, given annually between 6 months – 18 years, especially at ages 6 – 24 months. In the first year, 2 doses are given 4 weeks apart.

 

9-12 Months

  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella Vaccine, 1st dose (MMR 1)
  • Japanese Encephalitis Vaccine (Live JE), 1st and 2nd doses

 

9-18 Months

  • Japanese Encephalitis Vaccine, 1st and 2nd doses (given 1-4 weeks apart) (MBV JE 1, JE 2, or Live JE 1)
  • Japanese Encephalitis Vaccine, 1st dose (Live JE 1) administered between 9-12 months and the 2nd dose 3-12 months later

 

12-18 Months

  • Hepatitis A Vaccine (HAV), given in 2 doses 6-12 months apart
  • Chickenpox Vaccine, 1st dose (VZV 1) or Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella Combination Vaccine, 1st dose (MMRV 1)
  • Pneumococcal Conjugate Vaccine, 4th dose (PCV 4)

 

18 Months

  • Diphtheria, Tetanus, Pertussis Vaccine, Whole Cell, Booster 1 (DTwP Booster 1)
  • Oral Polio Vaccine, Booster 1 (OPV Booster 1)
  • Diphtheria, Tetanus, Pertussis Vaccine, Acellular, Booster 1 (DTaP Booster 1)
  • Injectable Polio Vaccine, 4th dose (IPV 4)
  • Haemophilus influenzae type B Vaccine, 4th dose (Hib 4)

 

2 – 2.5 Years

  • Japanese Encephalitis Vaccine, 3rd dose (MBV JE 3 or Live JE 2)
  • Japanese Encephalitis Vaccine, 2nd dose (JE 2)

 

2.5 Years

  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella Vaccine, 2nd dose (MMR 2)

 

4 Years

  • Diphtheria, Tetanus, Pertussis Vaccine, Whole Cell, Booster 2 (DTwP Booster 2)
  • Oral Polio Vaccine, Booster 2 (OPV Booster 2)
  • Diphtheria, Tetanus, Pertussis Vaccine, Acellular, Booster 2 (DTaP Booster 2)
  • Injectable Polio Vaccine, 5th dose (IPV 5)
  • Chickenpox Vaccine, 2nd dose (VZV 2) or Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella Combination Vaccine, 2nd dose (MMRV 2)
