Beauty shouldn’t be risky
“The doctor always considers the function first, ensuring there are no negative effects or a decrease in quality. It’s not just about beauty—it’s about looking beautiful in a natural and healthy way. I treat eye diseases and perform surgeries for aesthetic purposes, as well as solve various eye problems such as eyelid surgery, double eyelid creation, and correcting sagging or drooping eyelids. Before any treatment, I explain each method to the patient, including the pros and cons, and together we decide on the most appropriate approach.”
After Dr. Worapa Leelaprute graduated with a medical degree from the Faculty of Medicine at Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University, and completed her required service as a doctor, she further pursued a fellowship in ophthalmology and ophthalmic surgery. With a strong interest in eye care, she decided to continue her studies in ophthalmology and later specialized in oculoplastic surgery (cosmetic and reconstructive eye surgery). Dr. Worapa shares her inspiration and experience in her field:
“I’ve always enjoyed working with hands-on procedures (surgeries), and the eye is an organ that requires a lot of surgical intervention. Also, I love treatments that offer clear results, like cataract surgery. After surgery, patients who couldn’t see can suddenly see clearly again, which is quite miraculous. That’s why I chose this field.”
Eye disease treatment, problem correction, cosmetic surgery, and reconstruction
At Phyathai Phaholyothin Hospital, Dr. Worapa is a specialist in oculoplastic surgery and reconstructive eye surgery. What makes her unique is that she also studied dermatology, allowing her to combine her expertise in eye disease treatment, aesthetic eye care, and skin treatments. Patients can be confident they will receive comprehensive, targeted care.
Dr. Worapa treats all eye conditions, including conjunctivitis, cataracts, glaucoma, vitreous diseases, and age-related vision issues. She also treats conditions outside the eyeball, such as growths in the eye socket, blocked tear ducts, and eyelid problems like inward or outward-turning eyelids, drooping eyelids, or even eye-related issues caused by thyroid disease.
“In addition to treating eye diseases, I focus on educating patients on self-care, recovery, and preventing wrinkles, sagging skin, or puffiness under the eyes. We can choose the right treatment for this, such as laser therapy, radiofrequency treatments, or ultrasound techniques like Thermage and Ultherapy, to tighten the skin and avoid needing surgery.”
Understanding your eyes before treatment
With her experience and expertise, Dr. Worapa is frequently consulted by patients for eye-related issues and cosmetic eye surgery.
“The eyes are an essential organ that shouldn’t be overlooked. Most people only realize there’s a problem with their eyes when they come in for an examination. I explain to my patients exactly which part of their eyes is problematic. Once they understand, they feel relieved, even if it’s a disease, because they know how to treat it and what the treatment entails. Providing knowledge to patients is crucial so they can face their health challenges calmly.”
“At Phyathai Phaholyothin Hospital, we have modern, standardized, and safe equipment. You can trust that you’ll receive the best care, and I always prioritize the safety of my patients, treating them like family.”
Preventing eye problems before they start
For those who want to stay updated on eye health and skin care, including eye diseases and cosmetic treatments around the eyes, Dr. Worapa shares information on her page “Beautiful Eyes, Clear Skin with Dr. Net.” She regularly posts useful news and tips for her followers.
“Prevention is key. But if you’ve already tried to prevent problems and experience vision issues, blurry vision, or suddenly drooping eyelids—which could indicate other underlying health problems—it’s important to see an ophthalmologist for a proper diagnosis. Early detection makes treatment more effective. And remember, everyone should have their eyes checked annually to screen for any hidden issues.”
