Never stops developing himself — for the better quality of life of his patients

Dr. Suwanchai Chairatchaneeboon is an obstetrician-gynecologist specializing in minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery. He has pursued advanced training in laparoscopic surgery both in Thailand and abroad, including in Singapore and Japan. He continues to expand his knowledge and refine surgical techniques, accumulating over 20 years of experience caring for women suffering from gynecological conditions.

Using experience and expertise to treat common women’s health conditions — through minimally invasive surgery

Laparoscopic surgery has become highly successful and represents a significant advancement in Thai medical care. It offers patients less pain, shorter recovery time, and greater precision, without the distressing large scars of traditional surgery. The most common symptoms Dr. Suwanchai treats include chronic pelvic pain, menstrual cramps, abnormal bleeding, and infertility. Often, these symptoms stem from conditions such as pelvic adhesions or endometriosis. Many patients opt for laparoscopic surgery because it involves smaller incisions, less pain, faster recovery, and significantly reduces the chance of post-surgical adhesions.

Safety and aesthetics — the ideal balance for women

As gynecological surgery advances, women now have more treatment options beyond traditional open abdominal surgery, which typically leaves a horizontal scar about 10 cm above the pubic area. Today, surgery can be done through 3–4 small incisions, each only 5 mm to 1 cm in length. It has even evolved to single-incision laparoscopic surgery through the navel (scar-concealed) and the latest innovation — scarless surgery known as NOTES (Natural Orifice Transluminal Endoscopic Surgery). This technique uses a natural orifice, such as the vagina, for access, leaving no visible scars on the abdomen.

The key advantage of this method is minimal postoperative pain, fewer complications, and no visible scarring. Dr. Suwanchai emphasizes that doing the best for patients isn’t just about removing the problem — that may be easy for the surgeon, but living with the outcome is a big deal for the patient. He performs myoma (uterine fibroid) removal surgeries using advanced suturing techniques to preserve and restore the uterus, with hundreds of successful cases under his care.

The patient’s quality of life must always come first

Many women are understandably anxious when told they need surgery. Dr. Suwanchai believes that gynecological treatment must prioritize the patient’s quality of life. Beyond the disease type and the patient’s age, he also considers their future fertility goals and even aesthetic and identity-related concerns about preserving their feminine anatomy.

Each surgical approach is tailored to the individual. Before surgery, he provides clear, thorough explanations of the procedure, associated risks, surgical methods, and potential side effects, all with courtesy and care.

Building trust through experience

“We understand that patients often feel fearful and anxious upon learning they need surgery,” Dr. Suwanchai says. “So I take the time to talk with them, explain things clearly, and keep the atmosphere relaxed and approachable — so they feel comfortable asking questions. I offer guidance and recommend the best treatment plan for them, helping them to fully understand the process both before and after surgery. This builds trust and confidence in our expertise. We must become a pillar of support for our patients, helping them feel at ease, so they can recover fully and return to their normal lives.”
