Appendicitis is an inflammation of the appendix, occurs between top area of the small intestine and apex area of the large intestine. Which is considered as an acute and dangerous symptoms. In a case of not receiving a surgery treatment, infected appendix can be broken. Which causes the disease, spreading to all internal parts of a body. Accordingly, it may go through the bloodstream and cause a person to dead.
Getting to know “appendix”
– The appendix shape is similar to long bag shape with a size of pinkie. Which protrudes from the large intestine position, at the lower abdomen (Pelvic) around the right side area.
– The inner wall of the appendix contains scattered lymph node tissues. Which are easy to have an inflammation. The tissues have increasing in adolescence. The reason why appendicitis is commonly occur in teenagers.
– Appendix does not play an essential role in human’s body. The appendectomy will not give an impact.
Causes of appendicitis
– May caused by appendix obstruction, such as enlarged lymph nodes or solid stools
– May caused by the lymph nodes tissues thicken as the inflammation.
– Other causes, such as intestinal fluke (eg, cysticercosis) or tumors.
Who is likely to develop appendicitis.
Appendicitis can occur in everyone from 2 years old child to elders. However, it is common found in the age of 15 – 30 years old.
Symptoms
– Appendix enlarged: enlargement extends to the outer layer of appendix according to the disease. Abdominal pain is more increasing in a few hours or 1 to 2 days. Then moves the position to the right side of lower abdominal. Coughing or sneezing causes more pain in this stage.
Appendicitis spreading in the abdomen: leaving it until the appendix inflames (being found by 20%) In a case if there is no removing that can causes complications. Which can occur in two ways.
1. A body creates tissues which covers the broken appendix. Accordingly, they become abscess inside the abdomen. Where a lump can be found, moreover a person can have fever including pain around the lower abdomen .
2. Germs and pus spread throughout the stomach (considered as Peritonitis) which may transmit to bloodstream( considered as Toxic Poisoning), which can be fatal.
Treatment
Appendectomy, is a standard treatment of doctor to examine and diagnoses an appendicitis. Which takes more than 1 hour for the operation and staying in hospital around 2 – 3 days
In a case when appendix ruptures. It usually takes a longer time during an operation. And complications such as abscess, surgical wound infections or bloodstream infection can occur afterwards.
