Many children have enough potential to think and solve problems by themselves because they are confident in thinking and decision-making, capable of self-help. They are brave to try and learn from their own experiences and believe that their family trusts them.</li>
<li style="">Children do not want to be scolded by their parents. Often, teenagers do not want to consult their parents because, based on childhood experiences, when problems arise, parents tend to blame, distrust, or not trust them. They have had bad experiences with severe scolding, parents interfering excessively, or sometimes making decisions for them&#8230; causing children to avoid these situations.</li>
<li style="">Children think their parents are too unprepared or weak to help. Commonly, children see their parents as sensitive, afraid of upsetting them, and do not want to see their parents stressed. They think talking or consulting adds stress to their parents. Another perspective is that they see their parents as having insufficient knowledge and life skills or believe their parents cannot understand them because they have not experienced what the child has. They view their parents as less experienced.</li>
<li style="">Children fear making mistakes. This reason often comes from problems that are too big for the child to solve alone, such as pregnancy issues, being threatened or forbidden to tell because telling would cause many troubles, or even self-harm, harming others, or breaking the law.</li>
<li style="">Children have limitations in expressing the problems they face. In this case, children rarely talk or consult due to their own limitations in narrating or communicating their experiences. They tend to be quiet, not good at speaking since childhood, have language development issues, and have social skills below their age, making them less likely to share or consult.</li>
<li style="">Children feel not close to their parents. This is increasingly common because nowadays parents have to go to work, causing many children to grow up with others who are not their parents, such as grandparents, relatives, or caregivers. This leads to a lack of closeness, unfamiliarity, and shyness to share or consult.</li>

<h2 style=" color: #008080;">How Should Parents Adjust to Make Their Children Want to Talk and Open Up More?</h2>

<li style="">Find time to be close and do activities together more often first to build familiarity, like getting to know each other anew.</li>
<li style="">Reduce scolding and belittling the child&#8217;s thoughts. Allow them to express opinions, listen to their problems more, and reduce the role of being the authoritarian leader of the household to being more of a thinking partner.</li>
<li style="">Praise and show your child that you are proud when they solve problems well.</li>
<li style="">Parents who lack self-confidence and see themselves as not good enough or knowledgeable should practice praising themselves for their children to hear, such as praising their own patience, sacrifice, and responsibility that the child may never have known about, so the child can be proud of their parents.</li>
<li style="">When facing serious problems, parents should stay calm and not overreact or show excessive shock because during such times, children need a sense of stability and safety. Parents should be a refuge for their children, not making them feel abandoned, and show that you can think and solve problems together.</li>
<li style="">For children suspected of having developmental and communication problems, parents should take them to see a doctor early to adjust understanding to the child and receive appropriate developmental stimulation.</li>
<li style="">Parents should practice starting conversations more diversely, show interest, invite talks, and express concern for their child&#8217;s feelings more, such as saying, &#8220;You’re smiling today,&#8221; or &#8220;You look tired today, is something wrong?&#8221; Tell your child how much you enjoy hearing their stories, like &#8220;It’s fun to listen to you talk.&#8221;</li>
