Aging is something no one wants to be or hear about because aging is important in every aspect of life, whether it is working or maintaining good health.
To have good health, it must start with focusing on the basics of health promotion, which is the mechanism to improve or strengthen health in various ways, such as
- Consuming beneficial foods and drinks
- Exercising
- Practicing meditation
- Health check-ups to prevent health problems
All of these are important parts of building immunity to reduce the risk or chance of disease. This mechanism is easy to do, low cost, and more economical compared to having to receive treatment and rehabilitation after illness.
How can we overcome aging?
There is one thing that people of all eras have tried to fight and overcome continuously because it is a major cause of diseases, including wrinkles on the skin and changes in hair color for all of us. That is “aging”. The smallest unit in the body where aging begins is at the cellular level. If many cells age or deteriorate significantly, it will affect the organs and systems, which is the fundamental basis for disease and aging.
Anti-Aging Medicine helps fight aging
The desire to slow aging, resist aging, or fight aging has led to a branch of medical science that meets human needs to combat health aging, called “Anti-Aging Medicine.” In Thailand, it is now becoming known, gaining interest, and playing an increasingly important role. The main principles of slowing or resisting aging consist of care in three areas: diet, exercise, and emotions and attitudes, as follows:
- Diet Anti-aging foods are those that provide benefits or high nutritional value with minimal harm. They are usually vegetables, fruits, whole grains, fish, low-fat milk, etc.
- Exercise means increasing physical movement beyond normal activity in a clear form, done continuously and regularly for about 20-30 minutes or more. This differs from exertion or physical labor because it has different benefits in promoting and preventing diseases, such as for the cardiovascular, circulatory, and respiratory systems.
- Emotions and Attitudes The body and mind work together continuously. Having a good, relaxed mind and the ability to cope with various situations helps reduce stress. This lowers the chance of the body releasing substances or hormones that negatively affect the body, making aging less likely or slower.
If we take care of, promote, and protect our health appropriately, maintaining a good balance in all three areas, we will have good physical and mental health, can slow aging, delay aging, and stay away from diseases more effectively. Another important thing is to have regular health check-ups according to age at least once a year to reduce the risk of various diseases and also increase the chances of effective treatment because early detection usually leads to better treatment outcomes.
