<li>Screening for Anal Cancer 
Anal pap smear screening is similar to cervical pap smear screening, except the instrument is inserted into the anus to collect cell samples from the anal area to detect abnormal or potentially cancerous cells. If no abnormalities are found, screening should be repeated annually. If abnormalities are detected, a biopsy will be performed to determine the type of abnormality.</li>
