Thailand has many important festivals and holidays. Many people take the opportunity during long holidays to hold parties, drink, and eat with friends or family, which often involves consuming alcoholic beverages.
We all know well that drinking alcoholic beverages puts a heavy burden on the liver because the liver&#8217;s important function is to filter blood coming from the digestive system before the blood is sent to nourish various organs. When alcohol is present in the blood, the liver must eliminate the toxins or chemicals that are components of alcohol, which can cause liver damage and lead to a condition called cirrhosis .
<h2>Mechanism of Cirrhosis Caused by Alcohol Consumption 
</h2>
The condition of cirrhosis caused by alcohol consumption (Alcoholic liver cirrhosis) is a state where the liver is injured from its function. Naturally, the body produces fibrous tissue to replace the damaged liver cells, resulting in the liver tissue, which should be smooth, becoming nodular and hardened.
The liver damage caused by alcoholic beverages cannot be completely cured, but liver health check-ups after heavy drinking of liquor or beer, whether during festival parties or daily life, are still very important. If any abnormalities are found, treatment can be started promptly to reduce the severity of symptoms or to restore liver health as much as possible.
<h2>Symptoms of Cirrhosis from Alcohol: What Are the Warning Signs?

In the early stages, patients may have no symptoms at all. Generally, lesions or abnormalities are only found when liver health is checked to indicate liver problems. However, some patients may have warning signs when symptoms worsen, as follows:

<li>Changes in sexual characteristics, such as men experiencing reduced body hair, testicular atrophy, and increased breast tissue (gynecomastia); women may have irregular menstruation</li>

Because the liver is an important organ, liver health check-ups to assess its function are essential, especially for those who frequently or heavily drink alcohol during celebrations. Early detection of liver abnormalities increases the chance for timely medical treatment before symptoms worsen. Therefore, drinkers and all of us should not neglect annual liver health check-ups.
