General info

“When considering whether a patient should undergo orthodontic treatment, we must evaluate both oral health and malocclusion issues—such as tilted teeth, crowding, or gum recession. Sometimes, repositioning teeth through braces can help alleviate periodontal problems. On the other hand, some patients may not have bite issues but seek orthodontics purely for aesthetics and improved confidence. A beautiful smile can enhance self-esteem and open the door to new life opportunities.”

Passion inspired by personal experience

Dr. Pennapa Srivicharnkul graduated with a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) from the Faculty of Dentistry, Chulalongkorn University. She later pursued a Master of Dental Science in Orthodontics at the University of Sydney, Australia. She shares her inspiration and journey:

“I dreamed of becoming a dentist since middle school. My sister and I both had prominent teeth and needed braces. Monthly visits to the orthodontist sparked my interest in the field. I became fascinated by the dental environment and thought—I want to be an orthodontist too. When I studied dentistry, I found great joy in orthodontic courses. That’s why I pursued further specialization in orthodontics in Australia, following the dream I had since I was young.”

Expert in orthodontics

Dr. Pennapa is a specialized orthodontist, treating both children and adults, including:

  • Orthodontics combined with surgery
  • Invisalign clear aligners using computer-designed, patient-specific treatment plans
  • Removable plastic aligners for convenience during meals and easier oral hygiene

“Orthodontics typically requires long-term treatment—at least 1 to 2 years. Patients need to visit regularly every 1 to 3 months. It’s a field with a unique charm and requires strong cooperation from patients. But when the braces finally come off, the result is a lasting, beautiful smile and improved dental function.”

Patient-Centered orthodontic care

Dr. Pennapa carefully examines each patient’s issues and provides recommendations on appliances, costs, and treatment options. She emphasizes shared decision-making, allowing patients to take the lead in choosing their path. However, if a certain method is truly the most suitable but the cost is a concern, she offers alternatives to ensure the patient still receives effective care tailored to their oral condition.

“At the Dental and Implant Center of Phyathai Phaholyothin Hospital, patients are treated by orthodontic specialists using modern tools and techniques. Success in orthodontics comes from teamwork—not just the dentist. Patients play a vital role in achieving the desired outcome.”

Over 20 years of trusted experience

With over 20 years of experience, Dr. Pennapa has been creating confident smiles for countless patients. She also serves as a guest lecturer in orthodontics at multiple universities. She says:

“As I mentioned, I’ve wanted to be an orthodontist since childhood. Today, I give my all to my profession. I’m happy to treat and care for my patients’ teeth, and I constantly remind myself to do my very best to honor the trust they place in me. Teaching and lecturing is another joy—it’s a way to share knowledge widely and contribute to the growth of the orthodontic community. That, too, brings me immense fulfillment as a specialist in this field.”
