When talking about the ideal face for women, especially in the Asian zone, many people cannot deny the oval V-shaped face. Although today there are various face shape trends, such as the L-shaped face trend from the West, the chubby cheeks and big eyes trend, or the triangular face trend like Chinese women, the V-shaped face trend is still strong and never fades. If you want the ideal face but are afraid of surgery, what can help answer this… HIFU, the innovation for lifting and contouring the face.
- Helps adjust facial structure
- Lifts and tightens without surgery
- Stimulates collagen production
What is HIFU?
HIFU (High Intensity Focused Ultrasound) is an innovation that helps lift and contour the face using Focused Ultrasound technology that can deliver energy to stimulate cells deep into the SMAS layer, which is the layer plastic surgeons use in facelift surgery. It provides long-lasting results for about 1-2 years without wounds and no downtime.
How HIFU works
HIFU transmits high-frequency focused ultrasound energy to the Superficial Muscular Aponeurotic System (SMAS) layer, the same layer that surgeons operate on during a facelift. The energy is delivered in small points spaced evenly about 1-3 mm apart, creating uniform energy distribution under the skin without damaging the surface, so no wounds occur after treatment.
The small energy points at the SMAS junction are converted into heat energy, causing collagen in that area to contract immediately, resulting in instant skin tightening and stimulating new tissue formation at the SMAS level. This pulls collagen fibers in various systems attached to the upper skin layer, improving skin lift, firmness, and natural smoothness from within.
Who is HIFU suitable for?
- Those with sagging skin lacking firmness
- Those with unclear facial contours or non-slim face shapes
- Those with drooping eyebrows and outer eye corners, making them look older than their actual age
- Those who want smoother skin, tightened pores, and better skin texture
- Those who want to restore skin structure and increase elasticity
Preparation before HIFU
For those who have previously received Botox, Filler, Mesotherapy, or laser treatments, it is important to inform and consult with a doctor beforehand because HIFU may affect these treatments. A waiting period may be required before undergoing HIFU. Avoid intense sun exposure, tanning, or sauna for about 1 week before treatment to reduce the risk of side effects such as swelling, redness, or dark spots after treatment.
HIFU procedure steps
- Clean the skin area to be treated and dry it
- Apply ultrasound gel to help transmit energy under the skin
- Start the treatment, working section by section depending on the treatment area
- Wipe off the gel, apply skin care cream and sunscreen
Each treatment session takes about 30-90 minutes depending on the area treated. Patients will feel warmth under the skin, indicating that small energy points have been delivered deep to the SMAS layer, which signals collagen production stimulation. After treatment, patients can resume normal activities without downtime.
Post-treatment care
After HIFU, you can apply makeup and carry on daily activities as usual. Some may experience slight redness, which will disappear within 1-2 hours without downtime because the skin surface is not damaged. The treated skin will gradually improve with continuous treatments. Other treatments or lasers can be done about 1 week later, focusing on moisturizing treatments or as advised by the doctor.
Treatment results
- Visible improvement after treatment, with lifted eyebrows and outer eye corners, and clearer facial contours
- Some patients may require repeat stimulation within 1-3 months for better results
- Results improve continuously over 6 months due to ongoing new collagen production. Skin structure is fully restored (Collagen Remodeling) and lasts longer than 1-2 years
*** Note: Treatment results vary depending on the individual, age, and post-treatment care
