5 (Not) Secret Tips for Skincare During Winter

Skin care during the winter season is important because the cold and dry weather causes changes in the skin condition. Many people experience dry, flaky skin and lack of moisture, so special skin care is needed. Today, we have some simple (not so secret) tips for winter skin care to share.

  • Always carry lip balm and hand cream

In addition to skin care, lips and hands also need care because dry air causes lips to become dry, chapped, and cracked more easily. Avoid licking your lips frequently and regularly apply lip balm. For hands, after washing, dry them immediately and apply hand cream right away.

  • Avoid taking very hot showers for a long time

Many people like to take hot showers to warm their bodies and feel comfortable, but the moisture in the skin decreases, causing dry and flaky skin. Therefore, avoid taking excessively hot showers and do not shower for more than 10 minutes because long showers can also cause the skin to lose moisture.

  • Choose soap suitable for your skin

You should choose the appropriate type of soap, such as mild liquid soap, to maintain skin moisture. Avoid scrubbing the skin harshly and do not use scrubs more than once a month.

  • Apply moisturizer after showering

The first 3-5 minutes after showering is the golden time for skin care. You should apply a moisturizer or lotion with sufficient moisturizing ingredients within 3 minutes after showering to best lock in moisture in the skin.

  • Wear clothing that does not cause irritation

Winter weather is colder and drier than usual, so choose comfortable fabrics that do not irritate the skin, such as cotton. Wearing wool or synthetic fibers may cause irritation and rashes in people with dry skin or contact allergies to certain fabrics.
