In younger cases, the cancer originates inside the ovarian tissue and can sometimes be found in girls as young as 8 years old or women aged 20-30. In these groups, surgery is performed to remove only the tumor, preserving the uterus and ovaries, followed by chemotherapy, with a chance of complete recovery.
 
Who… is at risk? Since the occurrence seems related to ovulation, those considered at risk are women who ovulate regularly, meaning women who have never been pregnant. Ovulation causes wounds in the area, and repeated wounds increase the risk of disease. Also, people with a family history of cancer, whether breast cancer, ovarian cancer, or cervical cancer, may have genetic abnormalities. These hereditary gene mutations can increase the risk of developing cancer as well.
 
Internal examination = helps reduce disease severity Although it may seem impossible to prevent, that is not entirely true. Annual health check-ups, internal examinations, or ultrasounds to detect abnormalities can inform us early when abnormalities are minor. Some people are found to have cells that have started to change but have not yet become cancerous. At this stage, treatment is possible before the condition worsens and becomes cancer. Even those with a family history can undergo genetic testing for cancer.
