“Laparoscopic surgery is a technology that is very beneficial and well-suited for modern needs. This is because, when women are ill or undergo any procedure, beauty is one of the factors they think about. Furthermore, research shows that patients who undergo laparoscopic surgery develop fewer adhesions compared to open surgeries, as there is less inflammation and fewer chemical reactions in the body. Dr. Arun Tritanon  graduated with a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from the Faculty of Medicine, Naresuan University. He then pursued a diploma in obstetrics and gynecology at Rajavithi Hospital. Dr. Arun shared his inspiration and experiences during his studies:
“When I was working as a general physician, I found that obstetrics was particularly fascinating because it involves caring for one patient but essentially caring for two lives—the mother and the baby. Obstetrics combines both internal medicine and surgery. You need knowledge of medication while also possessing surgical skills. I felt that in obstetrics, I would be able to use both aspects of medical practice, which is why I decided to specialize in this field.” 

In addition to obstetrics and gynecology, Dr. Arun also studied in the subspecialty of gynecologic oncology, leading to many patients with cancer. During this time, Dr. Arun realized that cancer patients don’t always have to face death. If patients are aware of their symptoms, get early screenings, and know the results, they can receive timely treatment. Educating the public to raise awareness and encourage early screening is very beneficial. This led Dr. Arun to further specialize in gynecologic oncology to become a direct specialist in this area.

At Phyathai Phaholytohin Hospital , Dr. Arun provides general obstetrics and gynecology care, including both medical treatment and surgeries, such as laparoscopic procedures for conditions like uterine fibroids, ovarian cysts, and gynecological cancers. With over 10 years of experience, Dr. Arun has developed expertise in treating patients with a deep understanding of the issues women face. I try to put myself in their shoes—how would I feel if I were the patient? If a treatment is urgent, but they’re not ready, I ensure they have enough time to decide, allowing them to feel comfortable and less worried about their treatment.” 

Accurate Diagnosis Leads to the Right Treatment 
Before performing surgery or treatment, Dr. Arun thoroughly diagnoses the patient to ensure that surgery is necessary and appropriate. He shared an example of a case where: 

“There was a patient with an ovarian cyst about 40 cm in size who was preparing for surgery that required a large midline incision. The patient, who was a model, was concerned about the scar affecting her career. Based on my experience, I assessed that the cyst was not cancerous and re-evaluated the treatment plan. I opted to drain the cyst, remove it using minimal incision, and close the wound with a small, less noticeable scar. The surgery lasted just half an hour, and after only two days of recovery, the patient was able to go home happy, free from both the disease and the discomfort.”
