Dr. Suppawat Sirikupt
General info
“In elderly male patients, common urological conditions often include benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and urinary stones. These can typically be treated with medication or surgery. In female patients, urinary tract infections (UTIs) are more common. When surgery is required today, we usually opt for minimally invasive endoscopic procedures, which offer the advantage of smaller or no incisions. During surgery, we operate with a magnified, high-definition view on a monitor, allowing for precise and targeted treatment that avoids unnecessary damage to other organs. With no large incisions, patients experience less pain, shorter recovery times, and can return to normal life within a few days.”
Education & Inspiration
Dr. Suppawat Sirikupt graduated with a Doctor of Medicine from Naresuan University’s Faculty of Medicine, and later completed his Diploma in Urological Surgery at Rajavithi Hospital. He shares his motivation and experience:
“I was drawn to urologic surgery because I’ve always enjoyed performing minimally invasive procedures using special instruments. These methods result in smaller wounds—or sometimes none at all—and allow patients to recover more quickly, spend fewer days in the hospital, and reduce the risk of complications.
I’m also fascinated by the diversity within the urological system, such as male sexual health, female urinary incontinence, and urinary retention. The field requires both medical and surgical treatments, which adds to its appeal.”
Urologic Oncology Surgeon
Dr. Suppawat specializes in advanced urologic cancer surgery and endoscopic urological procedures, including:
- Kidney cancer surgery
- Prostate cancer surgery
- Male sexual dysfunction treatments such as:
- Hormone replacement therapy for testosterone deficiency
- Penile prosthesis implantation
- Male sterilization (vasectomy)
He provides comprehensive care tailored to each patient’s needs.
Clear Communication is Key to Effective Treatment
“Besides having clinical expertise, what patients really need is clear explanations. I focus on delivering thorough information in simple, understandable language—explaining the disease, its severity, treatment options, potential side effects, and expected outcomes. I often use visual aids and media tools to help patients understand the treatment process.
When patients understand what’s happening, they feel less anxious and more confident in their treatment plan. This also helps us make joint decisions effectively. And when patients follow the treatment path well, the results are usually excellent.”
At Phyathai Phaholyothin Hospital, Dr. Suppawat offers care supported by modern surgical equipment and international-standard endoscopic procedures, while maintaining a focus on safety, speed, and minimally invasive care, backed by his expertise and experience in urology.
“Illnesses can occur unexpectedly. But if you pay attention to unusual symptoms in your urinary system—such as painful urination, pus or blood in the urine, bright red blood, recurring bleeding, passing stones or sediment, incomplete urination, or difficulty urinating—you should consult a doctor immediately. Early diagnosis and treatment help prevent disease progression and reduce unnecessary suffering or complications, especially from infection.”
