Atopic dermatitis (Eczema) is a skin inflammation associated with allergy reaction, the cause is unknown, mostly occurs to a person which in family has a chronic allergy symptoms such as allergies, asthma, or some allergic symptoms.
What cause Atopic dermatitis
- Environment such as dust pollen and mites.
- Weather conditions such as cold weather, it provides a low-humidity including dry-air which causes skin to dry. Also leads to rash occurrence. And on the other hand, hot weather gives a body full of sweat which is a reason why happens.
- Clothing, such as using fur may cause itchy rash.
- Skin infections stimulates rash condition to worse result.
- The use of cleansing products such as soap results in skin drying, irritation and rash expansion.
- Foods as milk, eggs, nuts may also affect the rash.
- Mental stress also affects the rash
Symptoms
Skin rash occurs in different periods of time, at first stage there is blister or erythema including itchy feeling. While time passing , a rash which has not gone out of skin will cause lymph leakage. Afterwards starting to dry, thick also being able to get peeled off along with feeling of itchy. However, there are different 3 age groups of people, who skin rash can effect.
- Infantile: begins during 2-3 months old until 2 years rash will be on cheek, external area of limbs which is likely to generate skin friction including rash, blister with lymp leakage also lymphatic itching. In addition an infant often wake up during a sleep according to itching.
- Childhood: beginning in child at the age of 2-3 years old until 12 years old which rash expansion sometime will rotate into neck area , crease of legs and arms.
- Adult type: rash area is the same as childhood. The rash is dry and rough-thick may cause a skin cracks including itching.
Diagnosis
- Inquiry a personal information form whom that allergy runs in a family.
- In a case if the person used to have skin rash which is incurable.
- Rash symptoms are related to season or weather including position and a form of rash.
- Laboratorial examination such as serum IgE antibody tests, skin allergy test. However the examination is not specific.
- Other common features, such as Pityriasis alba, Keratosis pilaris, numerous fingerprints and dark circles under the eyes
Skin Care
- Avoid surrounding by stimulants such as being in an air-conditioned room, taking warm baths or long bath taking including over-scrub skin.
- Use cleansing products suit for skin type.
- Applying a skin care lotion to protect skin drying.
- Use clothes which are not tight or avoid wearing fur.
- Do not scratch the skin. And keep the nail short. If there is a problem with skin infection or rash should be treated immediately.
- Do not recommend for having pets, due to fur may provide a rash effect.
- For child, playing with dolls should always keep them clean. And mind out for doll fur.
- Avoid foods contain a rash stimulating effects, such as milk, eggs, wheat, and soy.
Treatment
- Take a medicine to relieve itching. Due to itching is a complicated symptom.
- Having the rashs along with lymph leakage should provide saline solution as light compressing. While the rashes dried , applying a steroid treatment will cause them to disappear. But be careful from the side effects such as thin skin, acne, lesions (This should be under medical statement).
- Use a disinfectant due to infection may cause abscess.
