Dry eye disease is a common condition with varying degrees of severity. Treatments range from environmental adjustments, the use of artificial tears, to serum tears, which can be produced by using the patient’s blood to make eye drops that have biological properties closest to natural tears.
Although serum eye drops, or Autologous Serum Eye Drops, are widely used today and are effective, one important factor in maintaining the efficacy of the medication or serum tears is proper storage temperature, which allows them to be stored for up to 6 weeks as follows:
