Urodynamic is a test of the function of the lower urinary tract by inserting catheters into the urethra and rectum to help explain abnormalities of the urinary system, such as bladder capacity, bladder contraction pressure, and the amount of urine remaining after urination, to lead to accurate treatment planning.
Urinary tract symptoms that should be examined
- Moderate to severe urinary incontinence
- Urine leakage when coughing, sneezing, or laughing
- Frequent urination or feeling of incomplete emptying
Preparation before Urodynamic test
- You can carry out normal activities and there is no need to fast or avoid drinking before the test.
- You should have a bowel movement before the test to avoid stool remaining in the rectum, which can affect the test. Therefore, one day before the test, you should eat soft foods that are easy to pass.
- In some patients with a history of difficult bowel movements, the doctor may consider prescribing laxatives before the procedure.
