If you prepare well… emergency childbirth is no longer scary
Even though you think you have prepared both physically and mentally to meet your little one, you might still fail because of “preterm birth.” Hmm! Or is there something the expecting mother might have missed?
If you fall into these lists… expectant mothers close to delivery must be careful!
- Genetics… family history of preterm birth or frequent miscarriage
- Twin pregnancy… whether naturally conceived or through medical technology
- Cervical abnormalities, short cervix, or previous cervical surgery
- The fetus has a low birth weight
- The mother’s age during pregnancy is either too young or too old, such as teenage pregnancy or pregnancy after 35 years old
- Health problems, illness, smoking, or alcohol consumption
The more stressed… the higher the risk. So what should you do?
Because “stress” increases hormone levels, which can cause preterm birth, to prevent this risk… mothers should relax and relieve stress by reading books, meditating, or resting for 8-10 hours, along with eating a balanced diet covering all 5 food groups.
For peace of mind… what should you prepare?
- Important documents such as ID card, passport, antenatal care book, social security, life insurance, house registration—keep them all in one place ready to take to the hospital
- Keep emergency phone numbers close by, such as 191, Narenthorn Rescue Center 1669, JS100 1137, the hospital where you receive antenatal care, or your obstetrician’s number. Contact your husband or relatives only after calling the above numbers.
- If your amniotic fluid starts leaking from the vagina, prepare to go to the hospital immediately with the above documents.
Because preterm birth… we cannot predict the time. Registering for antenatal care at a hospital near your home is one way to reduce travel time and increase safety for both mother and baby. At Phyathai Nawamin Hospital, we have a medical team ready to provide consultation and take good care of mothers.
