Spinal fusion
It is a treatment of patients with Herniated Nucleus Pulposus on the neck area, which has been accepted for a long time. The fusion will be made by removing problematic herniated then connecting the two vertebrae with metal plate. However, it causes the patients less movement for the neck including other problems in the future. Therefore,they may require the surgery again.
Disc Replacement surgery
The original operation has a lot of limitations. This method was developed to treat a symptom by removing the herniated which causes the pain to the neck by a replacing of artificial disc while the abnormal extra bone will be cut, later spine area will be enlarged to reduce the pressure of the nerve.
Artificial Disc
According to a development of new artificial disc, its movement function can be close to a real one. It also act as a buffer zone between two vertebras as well as reduces the chance of upper and lower disc degeneration after a surgery.
Who require Disc Replacement surgery
A procedure is used for patients with severe neck pain that comes with feeling numb and weakness. Most of them are treated by medication or sometime physical therapy at least about 4-6 weeks but the pain still remains.
Rehabilitation
Although patients can only stand and walk within 1 hour after a surgery but they may go home on the same day after or on the next day morning. However, some activities are still not safe for patients. Therefore, they should stop doing certain behaviors until reaching 2-3 weeks to do a regular activities.
