What is Anal Sex?

Anal sex is a sexual preference that can be practiced by all genders and couples, whether it is male inserting into male, female inserting into female, male inserting into female, or female inserting into male. Anal penetration is considered a natural and normal form of sexual intercourse.

Safe and Worry-Free Anal Sex

There are important things to know about anal sex for safety and hygiene as follows:

  • The anal sphincter is different from the vaginal lining. If injured, it may affect bowel movements, such as difficulty holding stool, so sexual activity should not be too rough.
  • The distal digestive tract is a curved tube that is not very long. If having anal sex, it should be done carefully by choosing appropriate positions and not inserting too deeply if it causes pain.
  • Clean carefully before sexual activity or clean only the outside because the tissue inside the anus is delicate. If torn, it may affect internal organs.
  • Always use lubricant to reduce tissue injury because the anus does not produce lubrication like the vagina.
  • Use condoms every time during sex to prevent sexually transmitted infections and reduce contamination that increases the risk of infection.

For some people, anal sex can be exciting, pleasurable, or very enjoyable. However, if you feel pain during the activity, you should take a break. If the pain continues after resuming, you may need to stop for that time or change positions for a better and safer experience in terms of hygiene and reducing the chance of anal injuries.
