Coronary artery disease, narrowing, blockage, rupture, is not a distant problem.

Have you ever thought that… just having a meal with friends could become the moment your heart stops beating? Every day, our lives go on peacefully. Many people might be working, some are relaxing, or some are happily socializing with friends. Who would have thought that during these seemingly normal moments, unexpected events could be hidden that can change life forever in an instant?

The story of Khun Uthen Noipan (a patient at Phyathai Nawamin Hospital) serves as a cautionary tale reflecting that the silent danger of coronary artery blockage can happen to anyone, even while enjoying daily activities.

Danger Signs That Should Not Be Ignored

The story began when Khun Uthen went out to socialize with friends and enjoyed a meal. Suddenly, an unexpected event occurred. Khun Uthen started experiencing “chest tightness, difficulty breathing, and then passed out.” This is an important warning sign of acute myocardial ischemia.

Khun Uthen was taken to the nearest hospital and then transferred to Phyathai Nawamin Hospital. Upon arrival at the emergency room, his condition rapidly deteriorated, and his heart stopped beating. The medical team and nurses immediately performed CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) to save his life and urgently transferred him to the cardiac catheterization lab.

At the same time, after the cardiology team and multidisciplinary heart care professionals were notified of a patient with coronary artery blockage, they prepared personnel and equipment for cardiac catheterization surgery within 30 minutes to be ready for treatment. Diagnosis revealed that Khun Uthen had a complete blockage in one coronary artery, a severe condition requiring urgent treatment.

“Thank you for giving me my life back”

After completing the treatment process, Khun Uthen was transferred to the Cardiac Care Unit (CCU) for close and continuous monitoring of his heart condition. Khun Uthen shared with relief, “I was unconscious and didn’t know anything. When I woke up, I was in the CCU.” As his condition gradually improved, the medical team and nurses provided advice on self-care, medication, and regular follow-up appointments to ensure Khun Uthen’s heart would be continuously cared for and remain healthy.

Khun Uthen expressed his gratitude to the medical team who saved his life and to the nurses who took good care of him throughout his hospitalization. “Thank you, doctors, for saving my life. The nurses took very good care of me. Thank you very much.” This is a heartfelt reflection from a patient who experienced care at Phyathai Nawamin Hospital. Today, Khun Uthen has returned to a normal life, spending time with his family, laughing with friends, and having “ordinary days” once again.

Heart conditions can happen anytime—maybe while walking, eating with friends, or during moments when everything seems fine. Phyathai Nawamin Hospital understands that “life-saving moments” never come with a warning. That’s why we have a specialized cardiology team, a cardiac catheterization lab (Cath Lab), and a resuscitation team ready 24 hours a day because every second matters to your heart. Don’t wait until it’s too late. If you experience abnormal heart symptoms such as chest tightness, palpitations, or unusual shortness of breath, see a doctor immediately to get back to living your everyday life.
