“Dengue Fever”, the second strikes is more harmful

The recurrence of dengue fever can happen many times in one patient and the severity of symptoms is harder each time which possibly be fatal. When our body firstly receives the virus, it will naturally create the immune system to fight against the virus, however this immunity does not last forever and its ability is not able to fight against different type of the original one. So when the virus returns with the different types, our body may be distracted leading to ineffective working of immune system. Or in some case, the immunity itself even returns to aid, strengthen and multiply the virus. That is why the second times of infection more harmful.

In the present, we do not have the medicine for dengue fever. The best way of treatment is to control and support the clinical condition of the patient. In case of mild symptoms, the patient can do the self-care at home. Water, electrolytes, and mild food are suggested. For the serious symptoms as dehydration or shock, patient needs hospitalization and requires fluids or saline which be adjusted to the patient’s condition. Moreover, blood or blood’s component would be given following physician’s order in case of necessity.
