3D and 4D Ultrasound

The images obtained from general ultrasound are 2D images, meaning width and length dimensions. In contrast, 3D and 4D ultrasound use more complex types of probes and image processing. These specialized probes can emit sound waves in multiple planes, continuously collect data, process it, and create 3D images with real depth. The 4D ultrasound is the latest technology, incorporating time into the processing. The machine captures each 3D image and displays them sequentially, creating moving images similar to a movie, where the fourth dimension is time.

Benefits of 3D and 4D Ultrasound Examination

In Obstetrics

  • The images are realistic, enhancing understanding
  • Creates love and bonding between the mother and child even before birth
  • Can detect abnormalities, especially surface abnormalities such as cleft lip
  • Can observe various fetal movements and facial features while still in the womb
  • Improves understanding of pelvic organ images due to the 3D nature
