When you realize you are pregnant, the first thing a mother should do is go for a check-up and see a doctor first. The doctor will examine the overall condition and then calculate the gestational age to confirm how far along the pregnancy is. The reason for checking the gestational age is to manage, set guidelines for behavior, and precautions that the mother must follow. According to medical science, the total duration of pregnancy is set at 40 weeks.
The 40-week pregnancy period is medically divided into 3 trimesters. The first trimester is the first 12 weeks, the second trimester is from 12 to 28 weeks, and the third trimester is from 28 to 40 weeks. Once the mother knows the gestational age, she can take care of herself accordingly. For example, in the first trimester, what symptoms might occur? Initially, there is a missed period. Secondly, some mothers may experience nausea, vomiting, morning sickness, dizziness, some may feel sleepy, tired, or have bloating, constipation, and frequent urination because the expanding uterus presses on the bladder, reducing its capacity, causing the mother to urinate frequently.
