- Bite firmly on the gauze for about 1 hour, then discard it. If there is blood or saliva, swallow it; do not suck or spit. If bleeding continues, bite on gauze for another hour.
- Do not suck on ice. Use ice packs on the outside of the mouth, over the surgical area, for 15 minutes at a time with 15-minute breaks during the first 48 hours. Ice packs help stop bleeding faster and reduce swelling.
- Do not rinse with water or any mouthwash on the first day. Brush your teeth thoroughly except around the surgical area. Use a cotton swab dipped in C-20 solution to clean the wound area, followed by rinsing with saline solution using 4 syringes after brushing in the morning, evening, and before bed.
- Take medications as prescribed by the dentist, following the correct dosage and frequency. If you experience allergic reactions such as rash, difficulty breathing, or other side effects like vomiting, stop the medication and bring it to see the dentist immediately.
- Use C-20 solution to gargle for 1 minute after every meal and before bedtime.
- If swelling occurs, apply warm compresses after the second day.
- Avoid alcohol, intoxicants, spicy or very hot foods, and do not smoke.
- If you experience pain, swelling, or any abnormal symptoms, return to see the dentist for examination.
- If stitches were placed, return to have them removed about 14 days after surgery.
