Fever, headache, bloody nasal discharge! 7 important symptoms that parents must urgently take their child to see a doctor

Every time a child is sick or has any abnormalities, parents naturally worry a lot. But what kind of illness… should not be delayed and requires urgent medical attention? Here are 7 important symptoms that every parent should know.

  • When the fever is high and does not go down

A child with a high fever has a temperature of about 38.5 degrees Celsius. However, if fever-reducing medicine has been given and the body has been wiped properly but the fever still shows no sign of decreasing, a doctor should be seen urgently. If left untreated, it may cause the child to go into shock and lead to other dangers.

  • The child has seizures

In most young children, seizures often occur when they have a high fever. However, seizures can also be caused by other reasons. Therefore, parents should not take their eyes off the child. If seizures occur… they should be taken to see a doctor immediately.

  • Vomiting or diarrhea that does not stop

Both of these symptoms can cause severe dehydration, especially if the child cannot drink water or electrolyte fluids at all. Severe dehydration can lead to shock.

  • Severe headache

If the child has a severe headache without a known cause, which may be due to falling and hitting the head on a hard object without realizing it, along with vomiting, take the child to see a doctor for diagnosis immediately because there may have been a brain injury.

  • Fever lasting more than 5-7 days

Normally, if the fever is caused by a virus, children will recover within 5-7 days. But if symptoms persist, even if it is just a low-grade fever, parents should consult a doctor to find the cause of the fever.

  • Stool with mucus and blood

Besides watery diarrhea, even a single occurrence of stool with mucus and blood should not be taken lightly because it indicates an abnormal sign that may be caused by inflammation of the intestines resulting from other causes.

  • Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath

This symptom may be a severe asthma attack or sometimes something blocking the airway, which can be life-threatening within minutes. Therefore, parents should not delay taking their child to see a doctor.
