Irritable Bowel Syndrome... The Most Common Disease in Working Life

Eating irregularly and often being stressed from work not only leads to gastritis or acid reflux but also increases the risk of “Irritable Bowel Syndrome” a common disease that working-age people should be cautious of before suffering from chronic abdominal pain!!!

Risk factors that cause irritable bowel syndrome

  • Improper eating habits such as eating irregularly, eating only meat, not eating vegetables, skipping breakfast, or drinking too little water
  • Severe stress, which triggers this disease
  • Lack of exercise and insufficient rest
  • Family history of colorectal cancer or gastrointestinal cancers

This kind of abdominal pain… could be irritable bowel syndrome

Patients often experience pain in the lower left or right abdomen along with constipation or diarrhea. Constipation is accompanied by bloating, which improves after bowel movement. Importantly!! Patients must not have serious symptoms such as bloody stools, weight loss, or nausea and vomiting.

Just changing your behavior can reduce the risk of irritable bowel syndrome

  • Eat properly! That means eating breakfast, eating on time, consuming fiber-rich foods, and eating in appropriate amounts along with drinking enough water daily
  • Think positively! Maintain a positive outlook and “avoid stress” if diagnosed with this condition because stress worsens chronic symptoms
  • Move regularly! Allocate time for exercise to reduce stress and boost immunity
  • Don’t hold it in! Don’t delay bowel movements when you feel the urge because the urge lasts only about 2 minutes and then subsides. Frequent holding in can cause constipation

Although irritable bowel syndrome is not severe, abdominal pain causes significant discomfort and affects daily life. So why wait? Let’s change ourselves for a better quality of life.
