Fun Party… Without Losing Your Health
During the festival season, what is often indispensable is feasting or partying. Sometimes we accidentally eat or drink without caution. After the party ends, we might find ourselves holding our foreheads, surprised by the unexpected decline in our health.
Prepare Yourself… Before Going to a Party for Good Health
Many people’s health deteriorates because of partying, possibly due to their body not being ready for socializing, lack of rest, overeating, or excessive drinking. Therefore, if you know you like to attend parties, you should always prepare yourself and your health, which can be done as follows:
- Do not skip meals
You should eat something to fill your stomach before going to the event because fasting for too long can lower your blood sugar levels, making you very hungry and causing you to overeat at the party.
- Don’t forget to drink enough water
You should drink enough water to meet your body’s needs about 1-2 hours before going to the party. You may choose plain water, herbal water, fresh fruit juice that is not too sweet, or drinks without added sugar to prevent dehydration that might lead you to drink too many sugary drinks at the event, which usually only offers sweet drinks, sodas, or alcoholic beverages.
- Choose to wear well-fitting clothes
You should wear clothes that are neither too tight nor too loose because uncomfortable clothing might make you uneasy or cause you to eat more than you realize.
- Take care of your health
You should exercise regularly to prepare your body to be strong and ready for any party. For those with chronic diseases, always prepare necessary medications. Most importantly, you must know your body condition first… whether you are ready for the party or not. If you are not ready, you should not force yourself.
Know Yourself… Before the Party for Long-Term Good Health
You should have a thorough health check-up to understand your body’s readiness for parties or other activities and to know what special precautions you need to take at every event.
- If you have high blood sugar levels, you should avoid foods and drinks containing sugar such as sweets, cakes, sugary drinks, and sodas.
- If you have high cholesterol levels, you should avoid foods like oysters, shrimp, squid, animal organs, animal fats, and coconut milk-based foods.
- If you have liver problems, you must abstain from all types of alcoholic beverages.
Have Fun at the Party… But Stay Mindful
You can control yourself… to avoid becoming a “wrecked body” after returning from a party by doing the following:
- Choose to eat foods high in fiber rather than fat and eat in moderation.
- Chew food slowly and thoroughly to help digestion.
- Choose to drink plain water or drinks without sugar.
- Do not drink too much alcohol and avoid drinking on an empty stomach.
- After the party ends, wait at least 2-3 hours for digestion before going to bed to avoid acid reflux disease.
Everyone wants to have full fun at every social event, but if our health is not supportive, we must be extra cautious. Therefore, “health check-ups” are important. Besides having the “heart” ready to socialize, we must also see if our “body” is ready. “Preparing yourself” before going to a party… will definitely help your happiness at every party go smoothly!!
If you party often, don’t forget to have regular health check-ups at least once a year to detect abnormalities and receive timely treatment.
