Currently, more people are interested in “health” check-ups, especially “annual health check-ups” because it benefits health care and planning. However, before undergoing a health check-up, besides preparing your body, such as avoiding sugary drinks or fasting, there are many things “you need to know and prepare” before going for the check-up. Let’s see… what should be done?
- Bring your family health history for questioning
There are many hereditary diseases that can be passed down through family generations, such as color blindness, diabetes, heart disease, thalassemia, cancer, etc. If any family members or close relatives have a history of these diseases, you should inform the doctor to assess your risk of developing these diseases and to provide advice on self-care to reduce risk and prevent disease occurrence. - Additional tests… if there are risk factors
Besides physical examinations and blood tests to diagnose general diseases, if you have behaviors that increase the risk of other diseases, such as frequent alcohol consumption, smoking, regularly eating fried or fatty foods, or lack of exercise, you should honestly inform the doctor. This will help the doctor recommend a suitable health check-up program because each person’s risk behaviors differ. In addition to general health check-ups, the doctor may suggest additional tests to detect risks of other diseases. - Write down questions and concerns… prepare to consult the doctor
Before going for a health check-up, if you notice any abnormalities in your body or have health problems with unknown causes, you should write them down to discuss with the doctor. This allows the doctor to conduct a thorough examination focused on your issues, such as:
-
- Finding lumps or abnormalities on the skin
- Experiencing headaches, dizziness, or fainting
- Having problems with bowel movements
- Changes in menstrual cycles
- Changes in eating habits, such as loss of appetite or frequent hunger
- Experiencing depression, anxiety, or difficulty sleeping
- Health planning and behavior adjustment
Each health check-up helps us understand our body better, knowing what suits or does not suit us. If diseases or risks are detected, we can consult the doctor to consider the most appropriate treatment plan together. The doctor should also help plan behavior adjustments and recommend self-care for long-term good health.
Health check-ups serve as reminders to keep us aware of diseases and cautious in life. But “before every health check-up”, we must study the check-up program carefully to choose and do what suits us best. Importantly, we must prepare both our body and all health-related information to ensure a smooth check-up with effective and accurate results.
“We must take care of and pay attention to our health in the best way, not just for today… tomorrow… but for every day of our lives.”
