What is a Beautiful Face?
A face that most people consider beautiful is one that is proportionate and symmetrical, pleasing to the eye. Therefore, various proportions have been sought to measure what a standard proportionate face should be, such as the Golden Ratio or Golden Proportion Ratio.
The Golden Ratio of Face refers to measuring the average values of facial features that most people find beautiful and using those averages as guidelines to correct organs or various parts of the face to fall within these average ranges. This is very useful in correcting problems in individuals with abnormal facial structures, such as those with protruding or elongated jawbones, abnormally short or long chins, patients who show excessive gums when smiling, or patients with crooked chins. Facial structural adjustments can be divided into two methods: surgical alteration and non-surgical alteration.
Non-surgical Facial Structural Adjustment involves additional lifting and tightening of the face to correct minor imperfections. There are several methods, such as:
- Reducing excess fat and tightening the face, such as Meso Fat Therapy, Thermage, Ion Lifting, Regent, and Hifu
- Facial contouring with Botox to reduce the masseter muscle, slim the face, reduce wrinkles, lift the eyebrows, lift the corners of the mouth, and help correct gummy smiles
- Thread lifting to reduce sagging and tighten the face
- Fat or filler injections to fill deep facial grooves or enhance the forehead, cheekbones, and lips for a fuller and more beautiful appearance
Facial Structural Adjustment by Surgery (Facial Contouring Bone and Cosmetic Surgery) is the correction of facial structures that are abnormal from birth, accidents, or for aesthetic purposes through facial bone and tissue surgery. There are more than 50 methods, but the most popular today include:
- Correction of square chin, reducing jaw angles (Square Chin)
- Correction of recessed chin (Weak Chin)
- Correction of prominent cheekbones (Prominence Chin)
- Correction of protruding mouth and gummy smile (Protruding Mouth and Gummy Smile)
- Correction of protruding chin (Protruding Chin)
- Correction of asymmetrical chin (Asymmetry Chin)
- V-Line surgery
- Nose surgery
- Surgery to correct thin lips or cupid’s bow lips
If these surgeries are not well-planned systematically, the results may not meet your expectations. For example, the face may lose its unique identity and end up looking uniform or block-like. Doing one procedure and then another may result in inconsistency, or following trendy procedures may become unpopular over time. A good cosmetic surgeon will analyze the face and plan corrections holistically (Facial Identity Designing: FID) to achieve complete beauty, highlighting and enhancing distinctive features to become a unique beauty identity using advanced technology. Digital 4D-FID makes treatment planning for complex cases more accurate, allowing you to collaborate with dentists by simulating facial bones, trial surgeries, and previewing results to achieve the best possible outcome.
