Mother begs! Please, brain, recover quickly

“The brain is only injured, but it must not be destroyed.”

That’s right… the brain is only injured because the brain tissue lacks oxygen and blood supply. If you don’t want to become hemiplegic or paralyzed due to brain damage, you must see a doctor immediately. Then… after the brain is treated, rehabilitation must continue, either by having a physical therapist help or having the patient’s relatives assist in care to speed up recovery.

Faster recovery through care

Normally, patient recovery depends on the severity of the disease and the speed of treatment. After treatment, physical therapy should be started early to prevent complications. Some patients with mild symptoms who can still sit, stand, or walk well, and can use their hands and arms, can do simple tasks by themselves. The first 3-6 months after becoming hemiplegic or paralyzed is the “best time” for rehabilitation because this is when the brain naturally recovers… after this period, brain recovery slows down.

Physical therapists can help you

Physical therapists are those who take care of and rehabilitate patients to improve their condition. They train strength and muscle control, reduce muscle stiffness, and focus on areas that have not improved. They also assist with movement in bed, diet, and mental health, talking with patients to reduce stress and encourage them to continue treatment.

Family and relatives play a big role

Close people or relatives are equally important. They should encourage patients to do as much as they can by themselves. Speak calmly and let the patient respond, even if slowly, and do not speak for the patient as it hinders recovery. If the patient cannot speak yet, communication can be done through pictures, writing, or symbols. Items should be placed on the weaker side so the patient can use that side to rebuild strength. Frequently talk to the patient about friends, relatives, and loved ones. Don’t forget to let the patient look at calendars, clocks, TV, or anything that stimulates the senses. Show love, encouragement, praise, invite them to family activities, or take them out for walks or trips to exercise and relieve stress. A good mental state leads to willingness to recover and faster healing. Most importantly, don’t forget to take the patient to doctor appointments, ensure medication is taken regularly, and observe symptoms daily. If abnormalities are noticed, bring the patient to the doctor before the scheduled appointment for timely treatment.
