Filler Injection: Which Areas Are Best to Enhance for You?

Currently, filler injections to address skin problems are very popular. It is not only of interest to older individuals but also favored by young people who care about their skin and want to correct imperfections on their faces for a better appearance.

Many people may not fully understand what “filler” is, its properties, or the dangers if using substandard products. Recently, there was news about the cancellation of the use of non-degradable fillers, which may have caused confusion or misunderstanding that all filler use has been banned. Therefore, today we provide knowledge about the types of fillers and their important differences.

Filler Types: Non-Degradable Fillers

These include silicone or paraffin, which are substances such as Polymethyl Methacrylate (PMMA) and Polyacrylamide. When injected into the skin, these fillers remain permanently without natural degradation, often resulting in long-term side effects.

Temporary Fillers (Temporary Filler)

These include the group of Hyaluronic Acid (HA) substances, which naturally degrade over time. They maintain effectiveness for about 4-6 months up to 1.5 years or even 2 years. These fillers are highly safe. Currently, hyaluronic acid fillers have not yet been approved for use as before.

Filler and Wrinkle Correction

We can use fillers to address two major groups of problems:

  1. Filler injections to correct skin wrinkles caused by aging, such as deep grooves around the temples, under the eyes, nasolabial folds, or corners of the mouth. The filler can replenish lost collagen fibers, making these deep grooves shallower and improving skin condition.
  2. Filler injections to augment skin tissue to appear fuller than before (Augmentation), such as nose augmentation, chin enhancement, lips, or injections to make the facial shape look plumper.

However, patients must choose the type and molecular size of the filler suitable for each skin area by consulting a specialist doctor. It is important to use high-quality, highly safe fillers because they are injected into our bodies. Products should be approved by the Thai Food and Drug Administration; otherwise, there is a risk of side effects or complications.

Additionally, filler injections should be performed by specialist doctors in clean, safe, and standardized facilities only.
