Hearing

Hearing Loss meaning an ability of hearing is different from prescribed standards. However, a normal hearing has an average of under 25 decibels includes 500-2000 Hz.

There are two types of hearing loss as follows.

1. conductive hearing loss

Areas of pathology  are the outer ear, the eardrum, and the middle ear. According to the areas, are caused by an ear obstruction, earwax, or some unusual objects. However, there are many causes of conductive hearing loss as follow.

– Earwax, which is created from the glands under the ear skin area. It protects the organ from insect and providing a mild acidic effect, thus the earwax can prevent an inflammation within the ears. In general, our body naturally release the earwax out as small dusts. On the other hands, if there is an irritation from some behaviors, such as wiping or spinning ears with a cotton, which can push the waxes into deeper positions and cause them become solid.

– Silvers of toys, fruit seeds, cotton or insects.

–  Eardrum penetration, it is found in patients with middle ear inflammation. Or injuries such as being hit and weapon stab.

– There is fluid obstruction in the middle ear. Which is commonly found in patients with dysfunctional auditory tube according to the middle ear inflammation. There are also tumors behind the nasal cavity may be caused by dive.

– 3 pieces of bone are not connected or the ears bone are loosed. Which can be found in head injury.  Accordingly, that can cause bone damage in the middle ear including chronic inflammation. including, hard bone cannot moved , this symptom can be found in otosclerosis.

2. sensorineural hearing loss

The pathological infection is located in the inner ear includes the ear nerve. The cause are as follows …

– Congenital.

– Infection, such as syphilis, virus and bacteria.

– Keep hearing a noise sound which is louder than 90 decibels in long hours.

– Accidently   receive a toxic substance into the inner ear such as from antibiotics, some analgesics and antipyretic. Including some medicines for malaria treatment.

Some types of cancer

– A hearing loss in the elderly, those with diabetes, hyperlipidemia and in patients with low thyroid hormone.

– Meniere’s disease which is associated with dizziness and tinnitus.

– Brain tumor

In addition, mixed hearing loss Both the combined hearing loss and hearing loss are also common.

Diagnosis and treatment

When hearing loss occurs, a history of hearing loss should be obtained. In order to distinguish the disease as a type of conductive hearing loss or combining of 2 types, conductive hearing loss and conductive hearing loss. In addition, a special examination such as electroencephalography or computed tomography may be provided in some patients to help diagnosis each disease treatment accurately. However, each treatment can be different according to conditions.
