Abdominal pain in children

Abdominal pain can happen to people in every age and gender, especially in small children who cannot speak a word. However, the abdominal pain is classified into 2 types: acute and chronic. And there are several causes of the disease depending on age and symptoms divided into 3 groups: newborns, small children, and older children.

Causes of acute abdiminal pain 

  • Abdominal pain often comes with these symptoms: vomiting,  fever,and diarrhea according to gastroenteritis. This is often found in young children.
  •  Abdominal pain often comes with these symptoms: vomiting with bile, hematochezia,  fever, and crying according to intussusception. 
  • Abdominal pain often comes with these symptoms: diarrhea, fever according to food poisoning and enteritis. Which is found in all age of children.
  • Abdominal pain often comes with these symptoms: vomiting and fever; the pain occurs around the lower part; the ride side of the body may cause by appendicitis.  Usually found in the group of older children.
  • Abdominal pain often comes with these symptoms: rash, severe abdominal pain, but no fever, considered as Henoch-Schonlein purpura symptom.

The symptoms of  chronic abdominal pain

Abdominal pain can take  7-14 days with unstable conditions in many months. Parents should observe whether the baby has these following symptoms or not.

  • stomachache, xiphoid pain, less intake, may cause by Gastritis or Gastric ulcer

 

  • Vomiting, acid burbs and chest pain, may cause by Gastroesophageal reflux.
  • Jaundice considered as symptoms of liver disease or bile obstruction such as, hepatitis.

 

  • Diarrhea may cause by enteritis and ulcerative colitis.
  • Chronic constipation and  Hirschsprung ‘s disease.

What parents can do

  • Observing common symptoms such as vomiting, fever, fever or no rash is like a faint.
  • Pain in the abdomen, pain in the neck, pain in the neck, pain in the chest, pain in the neck, pain in the stomach
