Don't want to "cramp" until you double over during your period? Let's take care of your uterus to keep it strong!

“Menstrual Cramps” are considered a top problem for almost every woman. No matter how familiar you are with it, you still can’t help but complain every time the symptoms occur. But did you know that menstrual cramps can be treated? Simply by adjusting your behavior… making your uterus strong, the problem of menstrual pain will no longer cause you suffering.

“How Do Menstrual Cramps Occur?”

Menstruation occurs due to the shedding of the uterine lining. There is a substance called Prostaglandins that stimulates the uterus to contract and relax rhythmically. When these contractions happen, women feel abdominal pain during their period. Relieve menstrual pain easily… with these 5 steps:

  1. Apply a hot water bag because heat helps relax muscles, gradually easing the pain.
  2. Do light exercise such as walking or yoga, but avoid heavy exercise because the body is weak during menstruation and may risk fainting.
  3. Drink warm water as water helps regulate estrogen hormone levels to normal, reducing abdominal pain. Avoid drinking cold water because it causes blood to clot, making it harder to expel and worsening the pain.
  4. Take painkillers Although this method is often used, doctors do not recommend it because regular use of painkillers can cause other side effects.
  5. Sleep on your side The side you sleep on depends on the position of your uterus. You may need to test which side reduces your pain.

Caring for a Strong Uterus to Reduce Menstrual Pain

  • Keep your mind cheerful and avoid accumulating “stress.”
  • Avoid sweet foods, desserts, or salty and fermented foods, and focus on eating fruits and vegetables that are not too sweet.
  • Maintain cleanliness during sexual intercourse because infections are the root cause of severe inflammation.
  • Keep good hygiene when using public restrooms as they are another source of infection.
  • Avoid lifting heavy objects as it may cause uterine prolapse.
  • Exercise along with pelvic floor exercises by contracting and holding for about 5 seconds, then slowly relaxing. Repeat continuously 20-30 times daily.
