
Social phobia is often found in children whose parent may have wondered why their child always looks stress and worried, that include, being afraid of talking to others and fear of participating in some public events. Besides, some children may separate themselves from people. And love to spend time alone. However, when reaching the time for going to school as mention, they may be afraid of being criticized, and being rejected in certain situations such as speaking in front of a class. Including, some children are unable to have a meal in public, as that case can make parents more obsess as well.
Some behaviors of social phobia in children

- Worried, lack of self-confident, paying attention to words, and afraid of being banned or rejected from friends.

Isolate from friends, and do not talk or play with friends including teachers.
- No eye contact and hate being on a spot.
- Afraid of being complained by teachers and friends.
Parent is the best medicine
- Parents should spend more time with children, doing some activities and do not rush doing it. When children start doing their own activities. Parents should start giving them a compliment and building up a confidence, instead of complaining. And help relieving anxiety. So they can have more encouragement in doing something.
- Being a good example for children, such as the way of talking to people in public, buying stuff in convenience stores. Accordingly, acting as an example to children in different situations should be lead by parent.
Treatment by a psychologist
- Adjust their behaviors by asking about what makes them concern and worried from a parent, including asking a parent to work on a case together for problem-solving. And to reduce the anxiety of children which a solution can be used at home and school.
- Behavior therapy is to let children start facing a fear, excitement, at the same time a parent needs to support them. Accordingly, when children can pass or face each problem, giving them an applause or compliment are required.
- Medication or drug use to reduce anxiety or fear in children. Always consult your child’s psychiatrist.
