Pregnant mothers should be cautious with canned foods

Processed foods like sausages, meatballs, chinese sausages, vietnamese sausages, fermented pork, ready-to-eat meals, and canned foods are not strictly forbidden for pregnant mothers, but it is advised not to consume them frequently.

 

These foods undergo significant processing and contain various chemicals, including MSG, borax, sodium nitrate, sodium phosphate, sodium saccharin, and other sodium compounds. Especially if these processed foods are not inspected by responsible agencies, they can be unsafe.

 

Pregnant mothers should carefully read labels for ingredients and expiration dates to know what they are consuming. Some ingredients can be harmful to both the mother and the baby if consumed in large quantities, such as MSG, which can cause dehydration and headaches. Although the harmful effects of these foods may not be immediate, they can have long-term impacts.

 

Foods that  pregnant mothers should be cautious about:

 

MSG: Foods containing MSG or some instant foods with MSG. Although MSG is considered low in toxicity, many people are allergic to it, experiencing symptoms like facial and ear tightness, numbness in the mouth and tongue, dizziness, fatigue, and nausea. While there are no definitive reports on MSG’s harm to the fetus, it is safer for pregnant mothers to reduce or avoid it.

 

Pickled vegetables and fruits: Market pickled fruits often use saccharin, a sweetener much cheaper than sugar, which provides no benefits and can be harmful, causing swelling. Some pickled products are not hygienically processed, leading to diarrhea and fatigue in pregnant mothers, which can be dangerous for the baby. It is better to avoid these, and if craving sour foods, opt for fresh fruits instead.

 

Additionally, pregnant mothers should be cautious with foods that contribute to weight gain, such as sugary foods, sweets, ice cream, soft drinks, cakes, non-dairy creamers, and sweet sauces or dips.
