Due to many misunderstandings, the health of your “intimate area” can suffer, especially since our country’s temperature is quite hot, which makes underwear easily damp and stuffy. Therefore, we would like to recommend proper care and cleaning methods for the intimate area.
- Daily cleaning: Cleanliness should not be neglected because the accumulation of bacteria and fungi causing unpleasant odors in the intimate area can result from several causes, including insufficient cleaning as well as excessive cleaning.
- Do: After using the bathroom, always wash with clean water and gently pat dry. Avoid products containing fragrances as they may cause irritation. Additionally, after defecation or urination, clean thoroughly with water and then dry with toilet paper by wiping from the genital area to the anus to prevent bacteria from the anus from spreading to the vagina.
- Don’t: Many people worry too much about cleaning, douching the vagina with clean water, and trying to use disinfectants for cleaning, which disrupts the vaginal balance and may cause irritation.
- Choose underwear fabric that is friendly to the intimate area: Due to our hot climate, tight-fitting pants may hinder sweat and moisture ventilation, causing unpleasant odors in the intimate area. It is recommended to switch to cotton underwear for better comfort.
- Take care of internal health during menstruation: During menstruation, sanitary pads should be changed frequently, at least morning, noon, and evening. The sanitary pads used should be clean, safe, and meet standards. Do not store pads in damp places as this can cause fungal growth. Avoid using pads every day as it can cause dampness; wear them only when necessary.
- Always observe any abnormalities in the intimate area: Be aware of any abnormalities in the genital area such as itching inside the vagina, excessive unusual discharge, foul odor, discharge with abnormal color, or pain during urination with a feeling of incomplete emptying. Consult a gynecologist to find the cause of these abnormalities.
