Are these symptoms abdominal pain/distension indigestion ... or gallstones?

Feeling flatulence distension may mislead us to think of having a stomachache,
this kind of hidden danger links to gastrointestinal diseases such as “gallstones” a
disease that caused by improper eating habits especially those in love with
“Buffet dish”

How does the gallstone happen?

Although factors that increase the risk of “Gallstone” are various a major contributor is “ eating behavior” as when fat or cholesterol level increases bile is unable to digest it the fat then may gradually accumulate and turn to a gallstone.A condition is influenced by our behaviors and lack of exercise.

Is it true? Gallstones always happen to elderly

We can only say about an incident that “a majority of patients are elderly” patient’s age is about 40 up however as mentioned its main cause is high
cholesterol and fat intake which may due to obesity, rapid weight loss including unhealthy eating habits like having foods with less fiber. Therefore a group of working people who are younger than 40 has a risk of the gallstone as well.

Although fat is the main factor of gallstones … but this disease may be caused
by other reasons

Most gallstone patients are found having high cholesterol or dysfunctional contraction of bile’s muscle which is unable to drive out substances completely. In
the meanwhile, there is a gallstone caused by pigment this condition is called pigment gallstone common found in patients with cirrhosis or blood disease such as anemia, thalassemia or patients with G6PD deficiency.

Symptoms showing when you are at risk of “Gallstone”

Mostly, the disease has no symptoms showing while certain patients have their signs showing clearly as follows…

    • flatulence

    • Having stomach discomfort, meal indigested especially after a meal rich in fat.

    • Feeling pain on the abdomen under the right costa border or xiphoid process

    • Having severe abdominal pain which spreads to the shoulders or shoulder’s muscle

    • Having a high fever or gallbladder inflammation (Cholecystitis)

    • Having jaundice or dark yellow urine

  • If the gallbladder is infected following symptom can be nausea or vomiting

Gallbladder Removal Surgery… treatment for gallstones

For the treatment of gallstones, the most suitable method of treatment that blocks the disease from reoccurrence and complications is surgery; the surgery is divided into 2 types as follows:

    1. Open Cholecystectomy: in case patients have inflammation of gallbladder or rupture

  1. Laparoscopic Surgery in case patients have no signs of acute inflammation

How to take care of yourself after surgery…

The first thing that patients should pay attention to is their surgical wound; during the first 1-2 months after surgery please stop lifting up heavy objects or doing long-distance trips because if the wounds are not completely healed they may be ruptured.

Food intake should be more emphasized by dividing each meal into a small dish, therefore, the meals can go for a day about 5-6 meals with a lower amount of
about 25-50 percent of the regular amount. Moreover, the type of foods that should be more focused are streamed rice (porridge), steamed egg, fish, vegetable in order to make the digestive system work smoothly

For all foods that are high in fat whether it is lean meat or fried dish, all should be avoided! and foods with a good fat such as omega3 should be consumed

Important factors of the gallstone are influenced by lifestyle means a risk of disease can still be controlled; eating foods composed of fat including a buffet or having less exercise, all behaviors should be adjusted before it is too late!!
